Next week Telltale Games (The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead) will continue their unique take on Batman. Season one mutated the back story of the Wayne family in order to bring a more deep seeded reason to the family’s murder than the silver age comics did along with reinventing the purposes of supporting characters like Oswald Cobblepot and the twist of Vicki Vale. Batman: The Telltale Series – The Enemy Within looks to expand more of the DC Universe into Telltale’s vision by adding Amanda Waller. Check out the trailer for the game below:

Episode One, “The Enigma” is available August 8 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac. The series will become available on iOS and Android-based devices in early October, and will also be available at retailers across North America on October 3 on a special ‘Season Pass Disc’ for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

In this latest chapter, both Bruce Wayne and Batman will be forced into precarious new roles. The Riddler has returned to terrorize Gotham City, but his gruesome puzzles merely foreshadow an even greater crisis. With the arrival of a ruthless federal agent and the return of a still nascent Joker, Batman must navigate uneasy alliances while Bruce Wayne undertakes a perilous series of deceptions. Which of Batman’s new allies will you choose to trust? And how deep into the darkness will you let Bruce descend?
We’ve played through the first episode of Telltale’s new arc and can tell you the trailer only tells half the story. The Bat symbol ranks among instantly recognizable symbols such as the big T on buildings some people pray in and fast food’s golden arches. To say it’s overprotected by rabid fandom would be an understatement. Which is why we don’t say it lightly that this take on the Dark Knight ranks among the best outside of comics. We’ll have an official review of “The Enigma” on Monday.
