0000033916 20061027013202We don’t watch enough TV to make an actual joke, but this is clearly a big deal.

NBC is adding former “Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell to the cast of “Heroes.” Peacock has snagged Bell for a key multiepisode arc of its sophomore sensation. Casting is a major coup for NBC since Bell — who plays the title character in Judd Apatow’s upcoming “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” — was reportedly being sought for several TV gigs, including a part on ABC’s “Lost.” Bell will make her first “Heroes” appearance in October. She’ll play Elle, a character described as a sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.’s past and the future of Claire. Elle will kick off her arc by committing a serious crime, though it’s unclear whether she’s good or bad.

  1. When Heroes becomes available via Blockbuster or Netflix, I will be getting all of them as swiftly as possible. I can’t believe i haven’t seen any of this stuff.

  2. I have a friend who’s a struggling actor. He went to school with Zach Quinto and once dated Kristen Bell. He loves Heroes, but hates watching shows with old classmates who are now famous while he’s not. So I don’t know what he’s going to next season!

  3. The elephant in the room that no one seems to want to discuss about HEROES is that the series was great, until the last episode, which was awful. Sylar is defeated by getting beaten up? What?! Really? Then what was that painting about they showed early on which showed Hiro facing a dinosaur? I expected something like Hiro taking Sylar into the past and marooning him there, to be eaten by dinosaurs. Instead we get a limp finale like they’d run out of ideas. Really awful stuff.

  4. James: first, well I thought it was a great season ender (except that it could have been a half-hour longer to fit in even more of the awesome) and second… Hiro DID do the scene facing the Dinosaur, in the museum after he stole the first sword. Personally, I think the fans made too much of that particular “clue” and got their hopes up for a dinosaur sequence.

  5. James is right. What an awful finale. I was iffy on the show and the finale was the one thing that was going to make or break it for me. While I was watching I kept on thinking “when are they getting to the fireworks factory?”
Now I’m going to watch next season, but not with the feeling that I’m watching something different and special.

  6. I’ve seen Kristen Bell in person at Comic-Con twice, and despite the fact that I was a huge Veronica Mars fan, I found her real-life version to be somewhat creepy (she was both times wearing at least a pound of makeup).

That said, I have to strongly agree with James. The finale was awful! Not a good omen for the new season, Bell’s role notwithstanding.

  7. I like to watch Veronica Mars episodes as well Lost. I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
