When CAFs team up! VANCAF, or the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival has officially teamed up with TCAF and the TCAf staff will run VanCAF, under the direction of the new VanCAF Festival Director, Andrea Demonakos, formerly of Emerald City Comicon and ReedPOP. She replaces founder Shannon Campbell in that role.

Campbell will stay on as a member of the VanCAF Board of Directors, along with TCAF’s Miles Baker and Andrew Woodrow-Butcher, creator Nathan Fairbairn and musician/visual artist Jarrett Samson.

VanCAF will take place two weeks after TCAF on May May 20-21 at The Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.

This is an interesting move in several ways. VanCAF launched in May 2012 as part of the wave of comics arts festivals, such as MeCAF, MICE, Short Run, Autoptic, Safari and so on. It quickly grew from 3,200 attendees and 92 exhibitors in the first show to 10,300 attendees and over 260 exhibitors in 2016. Teaming with TCAF, which has become a worldwide leader in comics festivals, is a natural and should give VanCAF access to even more touring guests and resources.

Exhibitor applications for VanCAF 2017 are now open at www.vancaf.com
