Thanks to some hardworking employees, as the above video shows, the Staten Island branch of Jim Hanley’s Universe which was closed due to flooding is now open for business:

Sunday morning, we opened up our Staten Island store to the below sight. There was a truly significant amount of damage caused by this weekend’s rainstorms, and we have lost many comics, books, games, figures and more due to the extreme water damage. However, Jim Hanley’s Universe has the best staff of any store on the planet: As of 4:00pm Monday afternoon, our Staten Island Store is OPEN and selling product! We will be open on Tuesday, and we will have new comics Wednesday!

You might consider stopping by either branch of Hanley’s and pick up some undamaged comics this week.

  1. Bravo for the volunteers! Looks like there was fast, clear thinking on what to do and how to do it.

That huge pile of wet books in the window breaks my heart. On the video, some of them appear to be only damaged along one edge. Can any of them be sold off cheaply as “fresh air reading” copies?

  2. Wow, That is a great, hard working crew of people. Even flooded it looks like a place I’d like to live in.

Good Luck with the rest of the cleaning!
