This week one of those it had to happen comics team ups happened in the form of Archie Meets Ramones, a one shot battle of the bands. (The Archies were a treacly pop band of the 70s who had a massive hit, “Sugar, Sugar”and the Ramones were the opposite, a hard driving seminal punk band whose songs clocked in at a minute or so.) Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Gisele Legace bring this team-up to four color life, and Rosenberg will be appearing today at Main Street Comics in Middletown, NY along with artists Dan Parent and John Holmstrom for a signing and a store variant cover by Holmstrom.

This is a very cool and appropriate thing as Holmstrom was the actual cover artist for the Ramones albums Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin, and the founding editor of Punk Magazine. He is, in fact, a bona fide punk, and the cover is about as authentic as you get. Main Street Comics provided an exclusive look at the cover just for us.

The signing kicks off at 5 pm and goes until 8 pm.

Hey! Ho! Let’s Go!

Archie and his band end up transported back in time to the New York of Joey, Johnny, Tommy, and Dee Dee. Having just lost their high school battle of the bands, The Archies are feeling down. Who better to inspire them than the most legendary punk band of all time?

Come celebrate the release of the comic book that documents the historic meeting of these pop culture icons!

Featuring special guests – Writer Matthew Rosenberg, and Cover Artists John Holmstrom, and Dan Parent.

And here’s the B&W variant variant:
