Smoke Signal, Brooklyn’s free comics newspaper, gets a fab release party today with Al Jaffee in attendance:

Please join us on Saturday, March 7th from 6 to 8 PM to launch Smoke Signal 21 at Fountain Gallery at 702 9th Ave in Manhattan.

Grab a free copy of the new issue, which features a new exclusive fold-in cover by Al Jaffee, who will be in attendance.  Have a complementary beverage, check out the exhibition and meet Smoke Signal artists Melissa Brown, Avi Spivak, and Valerie Schrag.

Fountain Gallery represents artists with mental illness, including the deceased visionary Anthony Ballard. We are trilled to published many unseen comics and drawings by Ballard in this new issue of Smoke Signal. The release party on Saturday coincides with the final day of Fountain Gallery’s exhibition “We Are Not Alone,” curated by Matthew Higgs of White Columns and including some great work by Ballard.
