Los Angeles, CA, 6 PM – 10 PM – Tyrese Gibson’s Mayhem at Meltdown Comics

Actor, singer, comics writer and hype machine Tyrese Gibson and the rest of the creative team of his new comic book, MAYHEM, Mike Le, Will Wilson, and Tone Rodriguez, will make a signing apperance at L.A. retailer Meltdown Comics to celebrate the release of the first issue of MAYHEM, published by Image Comics.

Thursday, August 6 – Friday August 8

Dana, Indiana – C. Tyler at Erinie Pyle Fireman’s Festival

C. Tyler will sign copies of YOU’LL NEVER KNOW, her graphic memoir about her relationship with her father, at Dana Indiana’s annual summer festival honoring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Erine Pyle, who was killed during WWII. Other events at the festival include a parade, a fish fry, flea markets and other down-homey goodness.

Chicago, IL – Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con

Comic book creators Mark Miller, Brian Hitch, George Perez, J.G. Jones, Mike Allred, Dan Slott and Frank Cho are just some of the special guests at this year’s Chicago Comic Con at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

Ojai, CA – Mad About Sergio opens

Sergio Aragonés’ hometown hosts a retrospective exhibition of work by the world famous MAD MAGAZINE cartoonist at the Ojai Valley Museum. Admission is $4.

Friday, August 7

Toronto, ON, 6 PM – 8 PM – Rufus Dayglow sketching and signing

New TANK GIRL artist Rufus Dayglow makes an appearance at Toronto retailer The Beguiling to sign and sketch for fans. The first 20 attendees will get a free copy of 2000AD with a TANK GIRL story by Dayglow and Alan Martin.

Saturday, August 8

Denver, CO, 3 PM – Amy Reeder Hadley signing

MADAME XANADU artist Amy Reeder Hadley will sign copies of the new Madame Xanadu trade paperback from Vertigo at Shattered Cover Bookstore‘s Colfax location.


Saturday, August 8

Seattle, WA, 6 PM – 9 PM – Comics Savants exhibit opening reception

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery hosts a new exhibition of comic art from over a dozen emerging and established artists who hail from Seattle, including Peter Bagge, Charles Burns, Jim Woodring, Ellen Forney, Megan Kelso and Eroyn Franklin. Many of the artists will attend the opening reception on Saturday night. The exhibition runs through September 9.

San Francisco, CA – Monsters of Webcomics exhibit opens

The Cartoon Art Museum opens a new exhibition featuring some of the boldest and best comics published on the web. Cartoonists featured include Jesse Reklaw (SLOW WAVE), Kate Beaton (HARK! A VAGRANT!), Phil and Kaja Foglio (GIRL GENIUS), Dorothy Gambrell (CAT AND GIRL), Nicholas Gurewitch (THE PERRY BIBLE FELLOWSHIP), Jenn Manley Lee (DICEBOX), Dylan Meconis (FAMILY MAN), Chris Onstad (ACHEWOOD), and Spike (TEMPLAR, AZ). The exhibition runs through December 6.
