  1. VERY happy to see This One Summer on this list . It was a brilliant marriage of art and story by Mariko and Jillian Tamaki. The book don’t seem to gather as much critical regard as I would have thought and as it most certainly deserved.

  2. I’ve loved everything by Gene Luen Yang, but – I’m sorry – the Shadow Hero is an overwritten, clunky mess. It’s only getting its press due to its origin, not its story. Someone needs to say it.
