It’s been nine months since there was a new episode of the Venture Bros—the epochal All This and Gargantua-2—and two YEARS since Season Five aired on Adult Swim. The show debuted in February, 2003, so it’s taken a mere 13 years to get to the sixth season. HOwever a premiere date, after many false starts, has been announced on the shows’s FB page, with the bare graphic, above.

Apparently there was more said at Dragon Con. The last episode left the venture compound in ruins, many characters dead, and a move to New York City for the crew in the offing, sop there’s a lot to cover in this season.

In case you’re wondering, Previous Venture season premiere as as follows:

Season 1: August 7, 2004 – 13 episodes
Season 2: June 25, 2006 – 13 episodes
Season 3: June 1, 2008 – 13 episodes
Season 4: Late 2009 – 16 episodes
Season 5: June 2, 2013 – 8 episodes
Season 6: February 6, 2016 – ? episodes

As you can see this is an example of a show getting both slower and less frequent with every passing season. However, that’s not a knock—what started as a Jonny Quest parody with the 90s nostalgia for rave music is now a multi layered structure of storytelling that examines failure, deceit and unhappy family relationships with an intricacy that would challenge Henry James mixed with George Eliot. Co-creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer have given their all to this cartoon, and it shows.

No matter how long the wait, dedicated Venture cultists will be well up for the new adventures of Rusty, Hank, Dean, Brock and their various surviving pals and gals.
