Every Wednesday, The Nerd Writer releases a new video essay on his Youtube Channel.  His videos, ever topical and poignant, analyze topics that range from emotional theory in Inside Out to world building in the Lord of the Rings series.  This week, the Nerd Writer’s video tackles Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, particularly the purpose of recurring character and historical playwright William Shakespeare.

The prequel to the original Sandman series, Sandman Overture, was recently collected into a deluxe hardcover edition and is available in stores now.

SANDMAN

  1. I really liked this. It so well encapsulates how history conflates with memory, though that is not its intent, to create the illusion of narrative structure. But in the end (hehe) both are fictions of the narrative self, and as such, well, the stuff of dreams. Like the Sandman.
