Over the course of last night, the first reactions to Sony’s latest Marvel-based effort, Venom, began to hit social media…and it hasn’t been kind. Comparisons to the Halle Berry Catwoman is the early headline grabber….yikes. We’re seeing it tomorrow, and there’ll be a review up this week. But, a concerning start for the “Sony Universe of Marvel Characters”. What a mouthful.
On the other hand, the studio does have a much more promising release in the upcoming Miles Morales-centered animated feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which finds Miles crossing paths with Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker and my childhood favorite, Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham!
I literally cannot wait for this to come out, and it’s only two months away. Just keep making movies like this, Sony, please.
