You know the saying: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. For Wilson Fisk A.K.A. The Kingpin of Crime, the upcoming Civil War II crossover event published by Marvel comics might be the perfect opportunity to put the villain back on the radar with Civil War II: Kingpin. The comic is a four-issue mini-series debuting in June.
According to Marvel.com author Matthew Rosenburg (Quake: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1) had the opportunity to fold some of his other work for the publisher into the event that he formerly pitched to Marvel editor Wil Moss (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) into Civil War II. Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Immolation) is contributing pencils to the story which boasts incredible covers from artists Esad Ribic (Secret Wars) and Aaron Kuder (Action Comics).
Rosenburg kept his cards close to the chest when asked about the state of Kingpin’s operation, but here’s a tease at what he had to say to Marvel.com; A lot of this book is about what the mice get up to when the cats are at war with each other. So it is very villain-heavy, but of course some good guys are going to be sniffing around Fisk. There are certain characters in the Marvel universe who aren’t going to let people like Fisk runaround unchecked, even with everything else going on.
The limited series debuts in July, stay tuned to The Beat as the story develops and readers get closer into Marvel’s Civil War II.
