While I bemoan the studio that excels so highly at producing original work continually going to the sequel well, it’s difficult to not get a little excited about where this super-powered family has evolved over the years while our eyes have been focused elsewhere.

Mr. Incredible becoming a stay at home dad while Elastigirl goes off to face the bad guys is a premise that is just too enticing. His journey to being a good, attentive father plays right in Pixar’s wheelhouse and I’m very much here for it.

This will surely be a June highlight.

Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible. Directed by Brad Bird (“Iron Giant,” “The Incredibles”) and produced by John Walker (“The Incredibles”) and Nicole Grindle (“Sanjay’s Super Team” short, “Toy Story 3” associate producer), “Incredibles 2” busts into theaters on June 15, 2018.

  1. This looks great, at first, I would have never thought that they’d go down this route of elastigirl being the breadwinner. However I remember the deleted scene at a parr family bbq, Helen gets flak from the career woman for having a family and being a mother. If this is the main storyline, definitely seems grown from this.
