Just a couple of quick notes before the weekend hits:

  • The CW announced today that it would be giving early renewals to 11 of its programs including everything under its DC Comics slate: The Flash, Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and iZombie. This is welcome, but unsurprising, news as those first three series are among the network’s highest rated and iZombie has a devoted critical following.
  • Additionally, at last night’s Daredevil premiere, Mike Colter revealed that Luke Cage would be debuting on Netflix on September 30th, just ahead of Doctor Strange opening in theaters in November. It does raise the question as to when a second season of Jessica Jones will happen, if Luke Cage is taking over that Fall slot this year. The continued development of Iron Fist and The Defenders crossover event also throw a few wrenches into that mix as well.

  1. Happy to hear that Flash appealed to the crucial crucial 18-49 market. I’m over 49, so I don’t count, but ironically, I was around for the first appearances of all those cool villains. And that counts for me.
