Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are really into Garth Ennis comics, so much so that they’re following up their soon-to-debut Preacher adaptation for AMC with a live action version of Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys for Cinemax.

For this outing, the duo is teaming with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who will write the series while Rogen and Goldberg will direct. The pair, who have directed The Interview and This is the End in the past, are also going behind the camera for the pilot for Preacher.

The series, for those not aware, is set in a world where superheroes are real and due to their celebrity status, engage in very reckless behavior. “The Boys”, of whom the series will center on, are a team of CIA operatives that deal with this burgeoning crisis.

The Boys has undergone all kinds of development in the past eight years, once as a potential film at Columbia Pictures and Paramount. Oscar nominated director Adam McKay was the one leading the charge there, but it looks like Cinemax are the ones to pull the trigger first.

The Boys was a 72 issue series at Wildstorm and then Dynamite, where it spent the majority of its run.
