Telltale Games, the developer behind story driven game adaptations of Walking Dead, Borderlands, and Game of Thrones is launching perhaps their most ambitious vision with Minecraft: Story Mode. This partnership with the game’s creator Mojang sees the phenomenon played by millions go in a unique direction.
In Minecraft: Story Mode, playing as either a male or female hero named ‘Jesse,’ you’ll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse’s friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.
Fans in Los Angeles on October 12th can attend a special world premiere event at the iconic Cinerama Dome at the Arclight theater in Hollywood. You won’t just be watching the action unfold as Telltale will be crowd-playing the game live with your choices affecting the outcome. Telltale also dropped some news on additional voice talent for the game so expect this event to have a few surprises.
Today we can also announce some entirely new cast details (and re-confirm a couple we’ve already mentioned)! If you’ve been keeping up with the news so far, you’ll already know the season will feature Patton Oswalt as male Jesse and Catherine Taber as female Jesse. You’ll also hear Brian Posehn as Axel, Ashley Johnson as Petra, Scott Porter as Lukas, Martha Plimpton as Olivia, Billy West as the narrator, and Paul Reubens as Ivor. Also announced today, in the role of the four ‘Order of the Stone’ members, we have Dave Fennoy as Gabriel the Warrior, Corey Feldman as Magnus the Griefer, Grey Griffin as Ellegaard the Redstone Engineer, and John Hodgman as Soren the Architect. In short, that’s a pantheon of talent we’re simply BEYOND excited to be working with.
Want to attend the premiere? All you have to do is email email@example.com for the sign up link. Once tickets have been allocated a stand by line will be opened the day of the event. It’s all-ages so the entire Minecraft community can attend.
Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode will launch digitally on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Steam on October 13 with hard retail launch on October 27th.
