Valiant have absolutely blitzed it today, announcing a new initiative which will see a new series launch every month right through until September. Amongst the announcements are a Quantum & Woody/Archer & Armstrong crossover, and new books by Jen Van Meter, Matt Kindt, Doug Braithwaite, Joe Harris, Roberto De La Torre and Clayton Crain.
The most recent book to return from Valiant, Shadowman started a second arc this week, with issue #5 from Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher. The series has made an effective return, with some good character work and world-building – although the book is struggling to lift all the different storylines it has weighing it down. There are around four different ongoing storylines at the moment, all of which are currently working separate to one another.
Two of the stronger X-Men titles during an incredibly strong period for X-Men titles in general, April will sadly see the cancellation of both Greg Pak’s X-Treme X-Men and David Lapham/Robert De La Torre’s Age of Apocalypse.
Marvel have revealed what their ‘X-Termination’ teaser image is all about: a crossover storyline between X-Treme X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, and Age of Apocalypse. Spinning around the fact that there are currently a series of different Wolverines being used right now (along with a couple of Nightcrawlers) the story will be a cross-dimensional adventure between the three books. There will be an opening and closing one-shot, with each series crossing over for one issue, for a total story in five parts.
