Exclusive: Boom announces more of Shannon Wheeler’s cartoons in I DON’T GET IT

You’ve got to be pretty funny when your rejected cartoons win an Eisner, but that’s what happened to Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man) with I Thought You Would Be Funnier, a collection of his cartoons—including many rejected by The New Yorker—which won an Eisner for Best Humor Publication in 2011.

Well, there’s more where that came from, and Boom has just announced I DON’T GET IT, a followup volume including more cartoons floating around Wheeler’s brain. If you’re already on board with Wheeler’s brand of absurdist humor, you’ve already pre-ordered a copy. If not, there’s still time. The book ships in December and has an introduction by fellow funny-man Keith Knight.

The book is part of the Boomtown, creator-owned imprint at Boom!, which has a more “indie comics” focus.

Kickstarter Watch: Fund Keith Knight's first graphic novel

Keith Knight writes:

Folks! If you haven’t heard, I’m trying to fund my my first graphic novel, I Was a Teenage Michael Jackson Impersonator!, through the art fundraising site Kickstarter.com. You get 30 days to raise the funds, and if I come up short, I get nothing. I’VE GOT TWO WEEKS LEFT AND I’M ONLY AT 40%!! I’m in rough shape! But there’s still time to do this!! Which level will you be? Tito? Jermaine? Latoya? Jesse? KING OF POP? Take a look at all the cool stuff I’m giving away to backers and start donatin’!! And PLLEEEASE, TELL YER FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES!!

The campaign has a few weeks to go, and Knight has posted some MJ cartoons in the updates, and also reports he has a ruptured Achilles tendon, which may hamper his moonwalking.

Check it out—there are some great rewards, including the King of Pop-level contribution, which will get you a command performance of Keith as MJ in your own living room.
