Speaking of Stranger Things, Television Academy voters must have a huge sense of justice, and maybe humor, as Shannon Purser has been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category. The nod is already drawing shock and some controversy, but when you think about it. Purser’s brief performance made such a huge impression on people that they’re still talking about it a year later. if that doesn’t merit some kind of kudo, I don’t know what does.

You can see the whole list of nominees here.   This Is Us, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Crown, Westworld, and Stranger Things managed many many nominations – Game of Thrones did air during the eligibility period, leaving the door open for non-Westeros-based nominees.

In a time of peak TV, “nerd” friendly shows did exceptionally well – because nerd is mainstream now. but you all knew that.
