This year, the Impact University panel takes place Friday, July 21, 10:30 to 12:00 Noon, in Room 8. Join some of the biggest names in comics as they teach what it takes to make it in comics and graphic novels. Our star-studded faculty panel this year is writer Peter David (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, X-Factor), writer Marv Wolfman (Crisis on Infinite Earths, Teen Titans), artist Matt Haley (Superman Returns), editor Jim Salicrup (Papercutz), writer and columnist John Jackson Miller (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Iron Man, Comics Buyer’s Guide) and editor Maggie Thompson (Comics Buyer’s Guide). Attendees will find out the best way to submit their work, learn the do’s and don’ts of the business, and participate in a Q&A session.

Once panel attendees learn the ins and outs of the business, they’ll be able to show their work to Pam Wissman, editorial director for Impact Books, when she reviews portfolios in the Traditional Portfolio Review Area. Timea are Thursday, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Portfolio Review Table E and Saturday, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Portfolio Review Table B.

Authors signing at the booth will be fan-favorite writer Peter David, signing copies of his new Impact book, Writing for Comics with Peter David. Peter will be at the booth Thursday, Friday and Saturday, each day at 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Superman Returns artist Matt Haley, who’s also a contributor to the new Impact Book, Comic Artist’s Photo Reference, will be at the booth Saturday. (At press time, Matt’s time had not been finalized).

Jessica “NeonDragon” Peffer, author of the best-selling Impact Book, DragonArt, will be on hand throughout the Con at the booth, painting an original dragon canvas, that will be raffled off to one lucky attendee on Sunday, July 23, at 1:00 p.m.! See booth for complete details on this special raffle. Jessica will also be signing her book and new DragonArt kit.
