Netflix time! Marvel Studios have their big deal with Netflix, which has so far brought us two seasons of Daredevil, one season of Jessica Jones, and will soon bring Luke Cage and Iron Fist shows to the digital subscription service. As part of Comic-Con this year, Netflix decided to drive us that bit further down the road to an eventual Defenders miniseries, by unveiling a whole bunch of teasers and images for fans.

Let’s start with Luke Cage, because frankly it’s the most exciting news. Scheduled to be released in September, the cast were on-hand to show off a new teaser trailer which sees Mike Colter’s Luke Cage smash up a bunch of people to the accompaniment of Shimmy Shimmy Ya by ODB.

The series will be set in Harlem, and see Cage taking on Cottonmouth – stay tuned to The Beat, because we’ll shortly be posting an interview with Mike Colter and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker!

Iron Fist was up next, with a new logo which uses David Aja’s design from Immortal Iron Fist. We also got a teaser trailer for the series, which as of this time does not have an air date announced. This one has Finn Jones in the lead role, with a scraggly haircut and extra-scraggly beard. Iron Fist doesn’t usually have the dour or reflective nature of the other three Netflix leads, but here it seems as though he’s going to be haunted by his traumatic past, and get locked up in a hospital for some reason or another. Well… we’ll see how this one goes, I guess.

Nice punch, though.

The Defenders will team up Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist together for a miniseries – and in the below teaser trailer, it looks as though their common enemy will be, sign, The Hand. The constant use of ninjas on Daredevil proved to be the sticking point which made the second season come unglued, so it’s a bit of a worry if they’re returning here. A teaser trailer was also released for this one, with a bit of Nirvana thrown in for grungy measure:

So that’d be everything, you’d think! But no, there was one last tease at the end of the panel yesterday – the news that Daredevil will indeed be returning (as expected) for a third season, likely next year. Plenty going on at Netflix, then!

  1. When the Hell are we EVER getting DVDs of these series? Daredevil is on season 3, and still no season 1 on DVD. Yes, I apparently live in 1996, but it would be nice to get some DVDs for these shows! I don’t have Netflix, so I’m just waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and…
