First came TCAF…then MeCAF…and just a week ago VanCAF…and now DCAF and KentCaf. It is the age of the CAFs, or Comic Arts Festival. I have no idea if the TCAF founders and originators of the CAF label are glad that it’s practically become a brand name, but that ship has sailed and bought some silk-screened mini comics

DCAF is The Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival 2013, to be held August 18th in Halifax, NS. It’s the brain child of the esteemed comics shops Strange Adventures. Exhibitor applications are being accepted for the next few days:

Last year’s event saw hundreds of people of all ages enjoying the free one-day festival of cartooning and comics. If you would like to apply for a table at the festival, please email “[email protected]” with the following information: Name, contact email and/or phone number, what it is you’d like to sell or display at DCAF, Applications are open until June 21st, 2013. Confirmations will be sent during the last week of June.

KentCAF will be held in October 18-19 at Kent State in Kent, OH and is a bit more ambitious. Fans of comic-books, art, manga and more should save the dates — October 18th and 19th, 2013 — to attend the first annual Kent Comic Arts Fest! Taking place at Kent State University and downtown Kent Ohio, “KentCAF” is an cultural, educational and social event that celebrates the art of graphic storytelling, also known as “comics.” Tickets are available to purchase now.

Founded by Wayne Alan Harold (creator of the acclaimed educational DVD series P. CRAIG RUSSELL’S GUIDE TO GRAPHIC STORYTELLING), KentCAF’s first annual festival will feature an impressive array of comics authors and artists, including the following
