BOOM! Studios and WWE today put out a preview of WWE: NXT TAKEOVER – INTO THE FIRE #1 from writer Dennis Hopeless (Jean Grey) and artist Hyeonjin Kim (Sisters of Sorrow), continuing the weekly event series on-sale September 2018.
NXT has become WWE’s third global brand, and the launching pad for some of today’s biggest Superstars including Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss and many more.. Now, in WWE: NXT TAKEOVER – INTO THE FIRE #1, the spotlight shifts to the groundbreaking Women’s Division where Asuka, the Empress of Tomorrow, makes her debut. Fans will also learn the story behind Paige’s return to SmackDown Live, as she scouts NXT for potential allies.
NXT is arguably the best thing WWE has going. Everytime its talent pool gets emptied on to SmackDown or RAW, we all predict the worst. Yet for every Finn Balor that gets called up there’s a Gargano waiting to fill the top spot. Don’t believe me? Do your self a favor and watch the recent NXT Takeover Brooklyn IV where every match was a show stealer.
Also worth noting is Asuka’s opponent in these pages, the most punk rock girl in wrestling Ruby Riot (I will not spell Riot with two “t”s).
These NXT comic are long overdue but we’ll have to wait and see if Boom! make these distinct enough from their regular WWE line to show how different NXT as a brand is from it’s more popular big sister shows.
