DC Comics has released a three-page preview of the first Batman story by the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Nick Derington. Batman Giant #3 features, among other things, the first 12-page chapter of the twelve-part tale from Bendis and Derington. The team joins creators like Tom King and Andy Kubert in providing brand-new stories for DC’s Walmart-exclusive line of 100-page giants.

In the interview accompanying the release of the pages, Bendis describes the story as a tour of the DC Universe:

“I was given, challenged with this assignment, just as I was really entering the deepest part of my research of the DC universe getting ready for Superman and the other projects we have coming out very soon,” Bendis teased. “So many DC places and people. I was now surrounded by people and things that I wanted to write and also wanted to know what it would feel to write and I also wanted to know if I was any good at. So I thought of structuring a story that started us in Gotham but then took us on a road trip, a travelogue of places I wanted to visit but that also would bring the most out of the character and his quest.”

  1. I have to admit that this looks great. Still don’t care for the packaging though. I just don’t think this look is the way to go.
