Another year come and gone. 2015 was, by and large, a fantastic year for comics, filled with relaunches, new talent, and obviously, great new books. Join Brandon and Alex as they look back at the year that was and what’s coming up in the future.
- 1:00 – The show begins!
- 2:20 – Dinesh Shamdasani, CEO of Valiant Comics, has been receiving a huge number of write in votes on The Comics Beat’s Person of the Year 2015 poll. Loyal legions? Bots? What’s up with Valiant’s mysterious film deal, anyways?
- 4:45 – We go down the shortlist of contenders from the poll
- 9:30 – Brandon espouses the merits of several other potential persons of the year who didn’t make the shortlist.
- 11:15 – Was All-New All-Different Marvel really that new or different, at least from the perspective of getting new creative blood on books? Is Ms. Marvel the poster child of diversity? Is Marvel the person of the year?
- 18:20 – Alex and Brandon discuss the woes of DC in 2015 (#SaveOmegaMen, #Prez4ever). What would it have taken to make Prez a hit? It’s a presidential election year and Prez has proven itself to be hilarious and poignant social satire, so in the abstract it should be running away with cash, and yet…
- 31:00 – What’s Brandon’s standout book of this year? The answer is NOT The Dark Knight Strikes Again or The **** Story. It’s not The Odyssey either, but you’re getting warmer…it mayyyyy have something to do with girls on the moon and cavemen pretending to be Queen.
- 34:00 – Alex summarizes his top books of the year! Daytripper faces off against Two Brothers! Ms. Marvel! Killing & Dying!
- 39:30 – Who’s the Breakout Newcomer of the year?
- 44:00 – Talking the epic 2016 movie slate! Dr. Strange, Civil War, Batman v Superman, and Tarantino, because he’s basically a superhero director, right?
