There are a lot of comic book movies coming out this year, but lest we forget, Wilson is one of them.

Directed by Craig Johnson and starring Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern, and Judy Greer, the film, as the new trailer tells is in a bold red card, is based on the graphic novel by Daniel Clowes- and he wrote the script!  The graphic novel was a somewhat episodic(as in each page was paces like a comic strip) look at a misanthropic man who has trouble with relationships who finds out he has a child he never knew a bout – a daughter his  ex-wife gave up for adoption after their divorce.

D&Q has just released a new  edition of Wilson in paperback. for those who want to experience the original.

Wilson the comics character is pretty hateful, yet another one of the aggressively anti-social Clowsian heroes of this period. Woody Harrelson seems to be making Wilson a bit more relatable, however. Laura Dern as his ex and Isabella Amara as his daughter have the thankless task of putting up with an awful (by design) husband and father.

Conceived during a trying time in Clowes’s life, I don’t think Wilson is his best work, but this looks promising. There are quite a few moments in this trailer that are essentially Clowesian, and  just for that I rate this a must see for Stately Beat Manor.

Wilson debuts this Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival, but opens for all to see on March 24. screen-shot-2016-11-03-at-1-00-45-pm.png
