Just a few days ago, we are all kind of buzzed/amused at the idea that Alec Baldwin, the 90’s Batman that never was, was signed up to play Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Joker film and joining a pretty rock solid cast.
Well, forget all that, as the actor himself tweeted today:
Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque.
That is not happening.
Not.

Baldwin is referencing reports that Thomas Wayne would be played as a 1980’s Trump-type, which was met with less enthusiasm from the internet commentariat. But, c’est la vie, Baldwin is out!
When reached for comment by USA Today, here’s what they found out:
Baldwin told USA TODAY Wednesday, “I’m no longer doing that movie” citing “scheduling” issues.
“I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part,” Baldwin said.
I never thought I’d be writing two articles in a row about Alec Baldwin in a gritty superhero movie (or not, as the case seems to be) in 2018.
Time to go back to the drawing board, Mr. Phillips!
He’s holding out for a Shadow sequel …
