  1. Benedikt Taschen is a comics fan of sorts. They just published a massive tome of Tom of Finland, they have published Stanton and McKay, and if memory serves, even collected a raunchy sex humor mag. Their Elvgren book is amazing…

The Icon series is budget priced and condensed from larger works. Their advertising series is excellent, as are most of their books. Lots of naughty stuff, but also something for everyone (historic, photographic, architecture, cultural…).

  2. I looove the Taschen books. I am so sorry I’m not in my hometown for this sale. Grrrr. For artists they are a particular score, as a lot of their erotica type books are a figure reference bonanza. Very good production values on those books.

    iCovet.

  3. Taschen wanted to publish comics in Europe-=- he loved Challand and Moebius and others– and was shocked to find out how much money it would cost to start up a new company and pay the talent. He found out it was much cheaper to liscence slide images from museums and do low cost artbooks for a mass market audience. So from comics to art books. I heard this from a good friend of his who use to publish Magic Strip in Europe–Challand’s old publisher.
