general-zod

I might get a little spoiler-y here, perhaps, so steer clear if you want to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with fresh eyes.

If you saw the trailer for the film that was released at SDCC, you’ll notice one detail that caught some by surprise was the inclusion of Michael Shannon‘s Zod being unzipped in a body bag, last seen getting a chiropractic adjustment gone wrong in Man of Steel.

Now granted, for those who have followed the development of this sequel closely, his involvement is one of the worst kept secrets about it. You also may already know some of the changes that have been rumored regarding Zod in the film.

With that in mind, Vulture spoke with Shannon directly about his involvement and he revealed one humorous, but also curious, detail:

I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’

Luckily someone in craft services found him in time.

There had been a rumor involving his character’s hands in the film recently, so likely that’s why Shannon didn’t have use of his digits on set. But that’s presupposing that said report is accurate, otherwise, what’s going on with Zod?

(For the record, I’m glad he’s coming back, bad facial hair and all.)
