Marvel reportedly announced X-Men: Apocalypse Wars, a brand new crossover event, at Comic Con Experience 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Newsarama originally ran the story and attendees at the show got a first glimpse of the logo for the upcoming 2016 X-Men event.

Sources from Newsarama say that Marvel talent manager Ricky Purdin was on the scene.  According to them, the event will run through All-New X-Men, Extraordinary X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. A version of Apocalypse was last seen in Marvel’s recent Avengers & X-Men: AXIS crossover that was the inverted evil persona of Evan, also known as Kid Apocalypse. The adult version of the character last surfaced during the 2009 crossover X-Men: Messiah War.

The announcement of this event conflicts with longstanding rumors that Marvel has been phasing out their X-Men characters in favor of the Inhumans. With the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film slated for a 2016 release, this event promotes synergy between X-Men comics and films.

We have reached to Marvel for confirmation on the series.

  1. The fact there’s 7 or so X-books and they continue introduce new characters are two other examples that the whole phasing out of the X-Men in favor of the Inhumans is crap.
