The award-winning world created by studio Don’t Nod is back, this September, in Life is Strange 2. It looks like we won’t be testing the bonds of friendship with Max and Chloe again. Instead, the binding of family will be at the center of this new tale set in the Life is Strange universe. The new trailer released today focuses on the pair of brothers seen at the end of Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, the free prequel game you can download now.
In addition to the trailer, publisher Square Enix released a few game details:
Discover a story of two brothers, 16-year old Sean and 9-year old Daniel Diaz, who have to flee their home in suburban Seattle after a tragic event that changes their lives forever. On the run from the police, Sean makes a difficult decision; to take his brother and go to Puerto Lobos, Mexico. Life on the road is dangerous and the brothers will be faced with tough decisions as they bravely undertake a journey that will test the bonds of brotherhood.
Everything is new in LIFE IS STRANGE 2 – a new cast of characters, multiple new settings, new gameplay features and a brand new power for players to discover, making Life is Strange 2 the most ambitious project in series history.
You’ll play as older brother Sean and the game’s moral dilemmas will shape your younger brother depending on the choices you make. The two won’t be hanging around Twin Peaksy Northwest by the looks of it as this time around the developers are telling a story about a journey to freedom. But for every scene in the trailer, there are about 100 questions still unanswered. What power will these brothers have that caused a police car to be flipped over? We know protect your family at all costs will be a theme of the game, but what’s the storm or giant fire coming for them this time around? Will we ever find out what choice Max Caulfield ultimately made at the end of the first game and what happened to her after?
It’s more likely the upcoming comics series from Titan will answer the Max Caulfield mystery but both the books and new game could add up to one of the most interesting complete stories of 2018.
We won’t have to wait too long for some of these answers as gameplay will be coming in the next few days while we wait for Life is Strange 2 episode one of five to launch on September 27, 2018. For PlayStation 4, Xbox One and, Windows PC.
