The LA Times Book Prize award for Graphic Novel has become one of the most prestigious literary prizes given to books in the comics format and previous winners include such acclaimed book as Duncan the Wonder Dog and Finder.
This year’s nominees have just been announced and they lean heavily toward the literary comics side of things with three indie books, an international sensation and a mind bender of a webcomic. Koyama Press published an unprecedented three of the nominees. The nominees are:

In addition, March Book Three was nominated in the Young Adult Literature category. One of the most acclaimed books o(in any category) of the year, March Book Three has emerged as something of a symbol for our times, much as Persepolis summed up the Aughts.
Winners will be announced on April 21, the night before the L.A. Times Festival of Books kicks off. Tickets go on sale starting March 16.
