Announced today at the Television Critics Association’s press tour, Kevin Smith will be the latest director of note to join the CW’s lineup of behind the camera talent, as he will helm an episode of The Flash airing in May.
No other details about the episode were revealed at this time, but given its airdate, it will presumably be one of the final episodes of the season.
Smith, a longtime comic fan, has long been associated with both of the Big Two during his career, having written comics like Daredevil, Green Arrow, and others. Though his big contribution on the live action superhero side was surely his script for Tim Burton’s never produced Superman Lives film.
The network had previously recruited Lexi Alexander and Joe Dante to direct episodes of Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow respectively.
