Now that Netflix has canceled Iron Fist and Luke Cage, the future of the Marvel-Netflix partnership seems to be disappearing into the ether, Infinity Gauntlet-style. However, we know we can at least look forward to two more seasons with the characters in this universe: the already-filmed second season of The Punisher and already-filmed third season of Jessica Jones have yet to see release dates.

On Nov. 14, Frank Castle himself took to Twitter with a cryptic message that has some believing he’s teasing an announcement for The Punisher season two. After the official Netflix @ThePunisher account tweeted a particularly bloody season one GIF and wrote, “You’ve done it now,” series star Jon Bernthal quote-tweeted the post and captioned it, “Tick. Tock.”

But what does it mean?! Fans have eagerly awaited news of the second Punisher season since the first one dropped on Netflix last November. In fact, this pair of tweets arrived just three days before the one-year anniversary of the series premiere. So, what’s coming down the pipeline? A teaser trailer? A release date? Both?

We can’t be sure, but The Punisher has always employed incredibly cryptic promotion to build hype. Last year saw coded tweets, interactive media and more. It’s possible that these tweets will be the beginning of yet another wild promotional campaign. Stay tuned.
