The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Oscar winner J.K. Simmons will play Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Justice League film, which will also star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Amy Adams. Simmons, who won numerous awards for his role in Whiplash in 2014, has also portrayed J. Jonah Jameson in in Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy. Commissioner Gordon has previously been portrayed by Gary Oldman and Pat Hingle in live action portrayals, as well as Bryan Cranston in animation.
Filming will begin on Justice League: Part 1 in April, shortly after the release of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will introduce several of the key members of The Justice League. The film will release in November of 2017.
