Indie Month-to-Month Sales: January 2010

Buffy is, again, the top selling indie book this month. Marvel and DC appear to have had quite a small month, as a total of thirty books (21 of them “indie”) made the chart this month with sales that would have seen them below #300 last month.

As with last month, I’ve listed every “indie” title in the top 200, and a selection of those appearing lower on the charts.

In decline, but there’s nothing to worry about here. The newest collection (volume 11) is the number one selling graphic novel this month, with sales of 16,914, almost triple the number two book. That is incredible. Every other volume also makes the top 300 graphic novel sales this month.

The title is sticking to that 10,000 mark. However what’s happening with issue 19? This seems to happen every year around this time as sales of an issue are split over two months. Presumably this is because stores on one coast get them the last week of a month, and stores on the other get them on the first week of the following month.

However, this does bring to light a problem with these charts. A single issue could, theoretically, sell just below #300 on the charts every month with reorders and rack up impressive sales that we don’t know about.
