This piece byNathalie Atkinson on proper PR behavior has been widely quoted. Working for a widely read consumer publication — The National Post of Toronto — Atkinson definitely gets more annoying followup than the average comics journo, but her suggestions stand — basically, don’t be a jerk.
And don’t send images in CMYK or pdf format if you want them posted!
And don’t embed giant 50mb files in your file. A link will do just fine.
Also make sure where your link GOES. I just got a nice note today that I immediately clicked on, only to find the landing page included a broken image. OOPS.
Anyway, worth reading. Bobbi Flekman would approve.
I can’t tell you how many unsolicited 10-12 MB releases I get, which send me scrambling to delete things to unfreeze my account.
Usually my first target is the large email that triggered it.
Nitpicking, I know, but the National Post is a national newspaper, not a “consumer publication.”
