It’s been quite a week for Future Mr. Beat — first his first creator-owned comic book came out two weeks early — CHOKER #1 — but it turned out that the printer used the wrong ink and the comics came out looking as crinkly as a hairless cat. Image has recalled the errant copies and now it’s going on sale Feb. 24. Meanwhile, FMB abides.

  1. HAppy Birthday, Benny Boy! “Future Mr Beat” indeed. Really, Heidi, you are naughty! Shouldn’t you be “Future Mrs. Choker”?!! Hope you guys are well!

  2. Happy New Year! (Year of the Tiger Beat?)

Wow… most creators have to wait YEARS for a variant issue… he got one before the issue sold out!

  3. You’d think Villa could have given you a better birthday than a draw with Palace.

I got one of those errant Chokers. Looked good and really didn’t notice any problems.

  4. I picked up one of those copies, too, which pretty much looked like the one at the link. It seems this problem comes up from time to time, but this is the first instance I remember when the printer was actually going to make good.

  5. Hairless cats (Sphynxes) are known for being very affectionate. Would it be correct to assume the same of Choker?

  6. I didn’t pick it up specifically because of the paper wrinkles. I just felt that it would be destroyed by the simple act of reading it and for $4, well…

I’ll be looking for the new and improved choker as my friends told me good things.
