This summer’s reboot of Godzilla has been getting high marks for the marketing and the trailer, and now the lizard king is coming back to the pages of the comics, where he’s had a pretty thriving career over the years. Godzilla: Awakening will be published by Legendary Comics and its co-written by Max Borenstein (screenwriter of the new Godzilla) and Greg Borenstein. Artists include Eric Battle (X-Men, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman), Yvel Guichet (Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero, Superboy Annual, End of Nations), Alan Quah (Rage, The Vampire Diaries, Anywhere) and Lee Loughridge (Batman Adventures, Arkham Asylum: Living Hell, Marvel Zombies Return), and features cover art by Arthur Adams (Godzilla, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Uncanny X-Men). The 72-page book goes on sale May 7.

(The above art is a promo from Comic-Con 2013, not anything to do with the graphic novel but it looks nice.)

Gareth Edwards, director of the new Godzilla, piped up on YouTube to express enthusiasm for the spin-off”
