GN News: Marzi and Delirium at Vertigo

Marzi (Norma, 2010), de Sylvain Savoia y Marzena Sowa.jpg
The Vertigo blog has some news and art this am, a new blurb for AARON & AHMED, the GN by Jay Cantor and James Romberger. Also news of MARZI by Marzena Sowa and Sylvain Savoia, sort of a Polish PERSEPOLIS about a young girl growing up in ’80s Poland. Interestingly, this is NOT an original GN but a translation of the original, which was published in France, a bit of a change for the imprint. (That’s the Spanish version above.)

There’s also a piece of art from Jill Thompson’s DELIRIUM’S PARTY: A LITTLE ENDLESS STORYBOOK, which is about kiddie versions of Neil Gaiman’s pantheon trying to cheer up Despair with a party. Good luck with that, kids — she’s named DESPAIR.
BTW, when we were looking for the original MARZI cover we found this Spanish language roundup of recent-ish non-fiction and autobio comics …a lot of great stuff on that page.

  1. Supersize Me says

    Marzi’s original format is 21.8 x 30 cm or 8.6 x 11.8 inches.

How much shrinking will it have to endure for DC’s very likely miniaturization process?

  2. Pedro Bouça says

They could go for the compilation format:

20 x 24 cm. The panels were rearranged to make those (Marzi is done in a VERY regular 3×2 grid, which became a 2×2 on the compilations).

Compare the original pages with the compilation ones:

If they do it, they won’t need to shrink anything. Unless, of course, they do it just for the sake of it…
