  1. 1010WINS mentioned this yesterday during their MoneyWatch segment. 12 million comics given away (not counting other freebies from retailers)! Stores hosting numerous artists and writers! Innocents being seduced! Parents *gasp* bringing their children to comicbook stores!

hmmm… suggestion to aunts and uncles: take your niece or nephew and give them $10 to spend on anything in the store!

  2. Thank you to the Beat and for checking my RSS feed this morning, as I thought it was next weekend.

As a long time comic book reader, I don’t necessary need any additional comics to keep me in reading, but I always pick up the young readers and kid stuff to pass along to my nieces and nephews.

  3. If you have a pull account remember to pick up your comics REGULARLY.

Otherwise there will be fewer outlets for Free Comic Book Day.

  4. It is a major Holiday for me. I already picked up my free Gyro Gearloose comic. I can’t imagine a holiday more important to the world’s psyche than Free Comic Book Day! I suspect that it’s growing more popular every year. Next year we should hang up decorative lights on our homes.

  7. Went to Meltdown in Hollywood and picked up a bunch of Iron Man swag for the kids here in the hood. They may not get to see the movie, but they can read the Jr. novel, play with the activity book, and put the bumper sticker on their respective dad’s trucks.

  8. I got the 2 Gemstone books – Disney (with a 10 page Carl Barks story) & EC (with tons of great stuff). Also Hellboy. The highlight of my day was when I noticed the inside cover to the Hellboy book. It had me giggling with joy. All I have to say is: Lobster Johnson Zoidberg.

  9. The Bongo Comics, Gumby, Moth, and Gyro Gearloose issues were among the best giveaways. Also love the Iron Man HeroClix.

I was surprised at how funny the Simpsons issue was, especially the manga story written by Chuck Dixon (!?), and the art from the old Disney reprints is always top-notch. Might have to forgo this summers blockbuster cross-overs (ho-hum) and add these titles to my buy list.

Props to Silver Snail in Toronto for hosting a great FCBD!
