irredeemable

Irredeemable, the Mark Waid-written, Peter Krause-drawn comic for BOOM! which details the villainous turn of Earth’s greatest hero and his former colleagues that stand in his way, is officially headed to the big screen and is getting an Oscar-nominated director to boot per Deadline.

Fox has attached Adam McKay, the director (and co-writer, which netted him a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar) of last year’s critical smash The Big Short and co-writer of Marvel’s Ant-Man, to helm the studio’s endeavor into a new superhero universe. The film will be written by Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters director Tommy Wirkola.

This will mark the seventh property that BOOM! has set up with Fox. McKay has been long discussed to helm a superhero property, coming very close to directing both Ant-Man and The Boys at various points in time.

With McKay attached to some pretty great source material, this is one to keep an eye on.
