UPDATE: Please note that Horrocks will be in Columbus from October 1-4 as part of the Cartoon Crossroads show, not just one day.

It’s a little late since the book came out earlier this year, but an appearance by Dylan Horrocks in the US is always welcome. In fact, it’s been more than 10 years since he came to the US and 15 since Hicksville was the toast of SPX.

Fantagraphics has just announced a tour for Sam Zabel and The Magic Pen, the collection of Horrock’s long running metafictional webcomic about cartooning, fantasy and anhedonia—the absence of pleasure in life.

However, meeting Horrocks is going to be a TOTAL pleasure and here’s his schedule:

Sam Zabel is an exploration of the highs and lows of fantasy through the lens of Zabel, a popular, but creatively stymied, cartoonist. This provoking and thoughtful meditation on the comics medium as art, outlet, and industry leads the reader on an epic adventure with sex-crazed aliens, monks, pirates, and web-cartoonists. Horrocks approaches this one-of-a-kind tale with careful consideration for the artist, the reader, and of course, the story we all yearn to tell.

  1. I’m thrilled to see Dylan again, but that poster is wrong. Not only is Dylan Horrocks a special guest of CXC, he’s here October 1-4.

If they issue a corrected poster — I’ve asked — and press release I hope you’ll update!
