dylandog
It seems that we have never officially given this its own item, but a movie based on DYLAN DOG, the long running supernatural Italian comic, is being made, and it has a Production Blog and everything. The movie is being directed by Kevin Munroe down in New Orleans and it stars Brandon Routh as Dylan Dog, and co-stars Taye Diggs, Anita Briem, and Sam Huntington. And it’s called DEAD OF NIGHT.

The original comic is by writer Tiziano Sclavi, and artist Claudio Villa; since debuting in 1990, it’s been published in many other countries, including, in the US, by Dark Horse.

  1. @egh: no, that movie was based upon a novel written by Tiziano Sclavi before he created Dylan Dog. There are some similarities between the two, though, but non that much as it may look like.

  2. I’ve been following this like a drooling fangirl…Dylan Dog is one of my favourite comic series of all time, I just hope justice is done to this remarkable and iconic character. ^_^

  3. Of course, PW Beat fails to mention that Platinum Studios is the production entity behind DEAD OF NIGHT, but why would we expect Heidi to mention anything positive about Platinum? That goes against everything she stands for. It’s so much more fun to bash the company. In a down economy, where independently-financed films are few and far between, the fact that we were able to get this film off the ground was no small feat. A European property with a non-superhero lead, with a cast, director and producer who all have long and deep ties in the comics-to-film space should be getting some positive buzz in the comics industry, but again, let’s face it, if there’s no controversy, it must not be worth mentioning. I’m sure Heidi and others will reply to this with a comment about financials, but guess what? Rumors of our demise have been widespread but greatly exaggerated.

You know, it actually helps if you bother to read posts from a few days before.

You also failed to mention that Platinum is being sued about the movie in question, but then again why would we expect honest statements from Platinum at this point?
