The David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad, while not appealing to most critics (it landed around 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, for whatever that’s worth to you) ended up a sizable box office hit, clearing over 745 million dollars worldwide.

With that in mind, WB is looking to stay in the Ayer business and while there are still plans in place for a Suicide Squad sequel, an even a possible Deadshot spinoff, the most immediate project looks to reteam Ayer with Squad star Margot Robbie.

The duo will come together for Gotham City Sirens, a DC supervillainess team-up feature that’ll center on Robbie’s Harley Quinn and shares a name with the Paul Dini/Guillem March ongoing series from the turn of the decade. That series starred Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman. Will this movie do the same? It seems likely.

The script is being written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who is the scribe behind upcoming Tomb Raider remake as well. Ayer will step behind the camera to again direct.

According to THR, this is now on the fast-track, though no release date has been set as of yet, and any worries regarding the troubled production that plagued Suicide Squad have been cast aside.

  1. 2 hours of the film lingering on her butt. Great. Good idea to give it to the guy who has already shit the bed once (like they learned nothing from Zack Snyder)

  2. I mostly love the DCEU movies (especially the Snyder films) but I hated Suicide Squad so this will be the first DC film that I just skip entirely. Not interested in seeing anything else from that creative team.
