Constantine - Season 1

Hellblazers, it looks like The CW is coming to your aide, or at least providing you with one last go with your favorite leading man.

Announced today by the network at the Television Critics’ Association’s press-tour, Matt Ryan will be reprising his role as John Constantine in a one episode guest-appearance on Arrow‘s fourth season which debuts in October.

There’d been an online movement among the canceled series fans for another network to pick up Constantine, with The CW seeming like the obvious candidate given their current slate of DC Universe offerings. Even Oliver Queen himself, Stephen Amell, was getting in on the act, promising to guest star if Constantine ended up elsewhere after NBC pulled the plug.

While the series itself never really indicated it, it looks like Constantine may very well have been set in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash, depending on how the showrunners decide to handle the appearance (he also could very well be from another reality, but I’m guessing they’ll go the simpler route). He’ll appear in the fifth episode of the upcoming season, entitled “Haunted”.

Exciting times for those fans of Ryan’s performance in the role, and I’m glad he’ll get a chance to return to it!

Additionally, the team behind The Flash debuted the first anyone has seen of their version of Jay Garrick (played by Teddy Sears) in a pretty grand style:

Any reference to “Flash of Two Worlds” = I cannot wait.

  1. They’ve made it a woman calling helplessly on the Flash for aid. The Two Minutes’ Hate will begin presently.
