DC has released their list of 193 titles due to ship during next September to January.
What’s of interest? I’ll note them below, with covers and/or highlighting.
- DC has both Wonder Woman and Justice League movies hitting the big screen, so expect lots of reprints. (There’s even a Justice League Detroit collection!?! And a “Wonder Woman and the Justice League” collection.)
- There’s also DC Superhero Girls, a YouTube series of cartoon shorts driving lots of licensing and excitement! (Mattel! Lego!) Expect two more graphic novels this Fall, just in time for school! (And if you’re not yet watching… Lena Luthor took over from Bab’s/Batgirl’s as the school’s IT wizard in Season Three, and has already created some mayhem!)
- The anniversaries… both 75 (Two-Face), 25 (Harley Quinn, Wildstorm), and even 15 (Hush) years. (Yes, you are officially “OLD”.) I doubt we’ll see any big “DC75” promotions for other characters… Green Lantern only got a month of variant covers, and you probably blinked and missed Green Arrow (who has a television show!), Aquaman (last January), and the Flash. Betcha Harley doesn’t even get a giveaway like Bats did, even if she is more popular!
- The Holiday season. Most publishers schedule their big titles during this season, in the hopes that someone will shell out $150 for The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, or a slipcased Peanuts set, or an Absolute Sandman. For DC, that means LOTS of Absolute editions: WildC.A.T.S, Justice League treasuries by Ross and Dini, New52 Justice League, and Authority. Also, for fans, lots of Jack Kirby!
