Can’t wait to see what happens after that last traumatic scene of season 1.0 when Rick shoots Sophia and the rest of the zombies in the barn? The first three minutes of The Walking Dead’s February 12th premiere have just been put online and we’ll give you three guesses what happens:

1) Sophia comes back to life and hugs her mom.

2) Everyone sits down to tea and a hearty lunch.

3) Misery, axes to heads, scowling, stomping.

James Bond is a bit of a prick, isn’t he?

If you are like us, you are still grieving at the loss of Herman Cain from next year’s presidential race. From his powerful hats, to his inspiring slogans — “You need a job, right?” — to his wondrous waffling that made every scandal a delight, Cain never failed to bring a smile to our lips, even in these grim times. And he justified that faith in his ability to make us laugh at our problems right up until the very end, topping it off with a quote with the Pokémon movie.

But Herman is gone. Luckily, a new candidate for the Republican nomination has arisen who may just take his place, Marvin E. Quasniki, a humble turquoise farmer from Tonopah, Nevada who is running on a very catchy campaign motto that will soon be heard all over Fox News: “No more bullshit.”

He also held his own in the debates, as this clip shows, and reinvented the whole “word said three times in a row” movement with his own spin. You can also see him in action with Erin Burnett, and more at his YouTube channel.

Now, there are some who say Quasniki is nothing more than a puppet. In this case, a puppet created by Henson Alternative, the adult branch of the Muppet empire, and endorsed by Nerdist, the geek news site. But really, maybe it is time we recognized that having a puppet in the White House is a proud tradition, and Marvin E. Quasniki fits into that tradition. In that case, it is your patriotic duty to cast your vote and hit “Like” on Facebook.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are still around! And to prove they are still in touch with the kids they have hopped on the hot graphic novel trend for their latest video — because graphic novels aren’t just for kids any more. Under the bridge downtown, is where I drew some mini-comics.

Actually, the video for “Monarchy of Roses” is more an homage to Raymond Pettibon than comic books. Alarmingly, Anthony is still rocking the shirt-off look as he nears the half century mark…clean living, I guess.

As we’ve previously mentioned, Derek Kirk Kim is a real hyphenate. Not only is his webcomic TUNE going strong towards a Fall 2012 collection, but he’s just finished posting to YouTube 9 episodes of MYTHOMANIA, a
parallel video series following cartoonist Andy Go and his millennial adventures. And now it has a poster!

Mythomania is a dark comedy series about the hopes and (often crushed) dreams of a group of fledgling cartoonists.

Meet Andy Go, an art school drop-out who has always dreamed of making a living as a professional cartoonist. But his path is littered with rejection and many a lonely night drawing while his friends live eventful lives outside of a comic book page. In the first season, Andy finally gets his chance to step out of the “mini-comics” scene to the professional world when a famous cartoonist offers him his first published work. But between a new crush, his roommate’s wild lifestyle, and visits from a peacock (?), it’s a race to the deadline!

Starring Vivian Bang (Yes Man, Better Off Ted), Ace Gibson (The Closer), Jeremy Arambulo, Simone Lamar Carter, Anthony Giambusso, and Chris Peterson. Music by Kyle Newmaster (The Myth of the American Sleepover, Star Wars: The Old Republic). With cameo appearances by Scott McCloud, Jason Shiga, and Jennifer Field. Written and directed by award-winning cartoonist Derek Kirk Kim (Same Difference, The Eternal Smile, Tune).

At a time of similar hopelessness and when people are actually asking if Brutalist architecture contributed to the UK Riots, it’s good to revisit this classic from the Specials. When I first watched this video I thought it was a modern remake as it looks so current and timeless, but apparently it’s from 1981, and directed by the late Barney Bubbles, a designer who killed himself a few years later.

This Angry Birds/The Birds short film by Gregg Bishop — presented as part of G4’s Epictober filmfest — is not as funny as you might think given the premise; instead it’s an Alfred Hitchcock fanfic kinda thing—and violent! But you will probably enjoy Jamie Alexander (Sif) and Amanda Baker looking very fetching.

THE IMMORTALS is the latest in the “Greek Gods are crazy and look great in superslomo” genre, but the fact it’s directed by Tarsem Singh, whose movies are full of insanely original visuals, and stars such totally watchable actors as Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Henry Cavill (Superman in Zach Snyder’s upcoming Superman), Luke Evans (Three Musketeers, The Hobbit), Kellan Lutz (Twilight), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionnaire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Isabel Lucas (Transformers 2), and John Hurt (Harry Potter) means we’ll be there to watch when it opens.

It’s also one of a recent breed of movies that has tied in heavily with a graphic novel for that “transmedia” feeling. IMMORTALS, the graphic novel, features the work of a great lineup of creators including Brian Clevinger, F.J. DeSanto, Paul Tobin, David Gallaher, Justin Gray, Jock, Ron Marz, Jim McCann, Ben McCool, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Jeff Parker, Dennis Calero, Kevin Colden, Steve Ellis, Trevor Hairsine, Scott Hampton, Phil Hester, Jock, Rafael Kayanan, Patrick Scherberger, and Ben Templesmith and David Mack.

The book contains various short stories dealing with characters from Greek myth (and the movie) which, we’re told, provide vluable background on the film. In this video, F.J. DeSanto, David Gallaher, Jock, Ben McCool and Patrick Scherberger talk about their work. When you get to the end there’s also a secret code — if you go to this page and upload the code and watch a few other videos, you get to enter a contest to win a limited-edition signed Giclee print.

IMMORTALS: GODS AND HEROES, published by Archaia, goes on sales next week.

Matthew Thurber is one of a kind, and we haven’t even figured out what kind yet. Here’s a new animated rap video based on his new 1-800-MICE book, out now from Picturebox. Thurber is also touring, starting Friday in SF.

Despite the awful, whitewashed M. Night Shyamalan movie, AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER retains its passionate fanbase, and news of a sequel, THE LEGEND OF KORRA, a 26-episode miniseries, has had hearts afluttering for some time. The trailer was released at Comic-Con, and the panel had lots of news about the show, which is slated to air next year.
