Scott Pilgrim's finest sales chart: 1 million in print

It was a wise man who said that comic book movies function as $20 million advertisements for graphic novels…and in the case of the Scott Pilgrim series it is certainly true.

Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Debate

So when the tale was written, SCOTT PILGRIM Vs THE WORLD ended up #5 at the box office with a disappointing $10.5 mil. This simple fact has caused ethnic wars everywhere on the internet. People ask, double rainbow-like, “What does it mean?” and argue over who is a fanboy, what is a fanboy, what is […]

SCOTT PILGRIM vs The Box Office

It’s looking like SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD will come in at a disappointing #4 at this weekend’s box office, according to Nikki Finke, behind THE EXPENDABLES, EAT PRAY LOVE, and the returning THE OTHER GUYS. SPvsTW made an estimated $4.7 million on Friday for an $11 million opening. There’s a lot of analysis and […]

SCOTT PILGRIM Week!

Wow, in a few short hours, SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD finally opens and Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O’Malley can stop their incessant promotional wanderings over the face of the earth. In future years, this will always be known as “Scott Pilgrim Week,” a mystical, magical time of love and exploration and kung fu training.

So much has happened, is happening. Some linkie winkins. ABOVE — a super-amazing remake of the live-action SPvsTW trailer using the comics — wow, it really is just like the book.

SD10: Oni #1833

Pilgrimania is taking over the world — especially the Hilton

Scott Pilgrim promo fever is hitting 105˚ in advance of next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, sure to be known in future years as “The Scott Pilgrim One.” To wit, various Twitter feeds have been capturing the progress of a giant Scott Pilgrim banner being erected over the Hilton Bayfront hotel. Yowsa.

Scott PIlgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley has a thorough list of events he’s involved with, including his midnight signing appearance in Toronto, where it all began. (We’ll have more details on midnight events in a few days.)

In case you don’t know them it’s Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter, Shota and Keita Saito as Kyle Katayanagi and Jason Schwartzman as the Gideon Gordon Graves.

Rating: Awesome.

Scott #6 DONE, new clip debuts

Bryan Lee O’Malley tweets that SCOTT PILGRIM AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS is finished, and debuting July 20th, with a midnight signing in Toronto to kick it off. And director Edgar Wright intro’d a NEW CLIP from SCOTT PILGRIM during last night’s MTV movie awards — important placement for the great summer hope.

Second SCOTT PILGRIM trailer debuts

You know, we’ve been expecting that this thing will be awesome, and this just confirms it, but seeing it all laid out like that makes us wonder if the movie going audience — which has recently shown itself to be pretty reactionary and unadventurous — will really except a teenaged romance comedy with lots of fighting. Either the girls will love the romance and the guys will love the fighting…or the girls will hate the fighting and the guys will hate the romance like they usually do. More to the point, can Hollywood successfully MARKET a movie that has crossover appeal?

Oni signs up Yo Gabba Gabba

The big news from Oni’s panel yesterday was a license for Yo Gabba Gabba, the insanely popular show for young kids and those who think like them. PR below, although the creative team hasn’t been announced — maybe Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer, who write for the show, will be involved. W!LDBRAIN Entertainment, producers of […]

FIRST PRECIOUS LITTLE SCOTT PILGRIM STILL!

Bryan Lee O’Malley points us to this still, : which was posted in a sly, slanted form by director Edgar Wright, and then photoshopped to look rectangular by /film. That’s (l-r) Michael Cera as Scott, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Ellen Wong as Knives Chao, Alison Pill as Kim […]
