Well, it’s been a week since C2E2 occurred, and we’ve recovered from the excitement, caught up on emails, and finally unpacked our luggage.

When we last left our stalwart confrere, he was confluxing, enjoying the spectacle and energy of C2E2.  While we await his final report, we offer a sampling of photos he took at McCormick Place, with whatever notation I can conjure up or conjecture.  I did not witness all of the moments depicted, but I will do my best to explain each.

I did witness: Snowths (phenomenal!), Godzilla, a Playboy bunny, Tron, Voltron, various Doctors, Lady Deadpool, Tintin, and He-Man.  And Delirium and Effie Trinket at the American Libraries booth.  (Saturday, Effie was pink; Sunday, she was teal.)  The Variant Stage hosted a daily costume contest each evening.

Link, of Zelda fame. (Have Link and Mario ever compared notes?)
American Dream and movie Captain America. The shields are wrong, but it's still pretty cool.

Golden Age Green Lantern and Hawkman pose with the McCormick Place concierge, AKA "Answer-Man"!
Answer-Man's secret identity.

Where the magic happens. In my day, we had to use phone booths!
Meanwhile, over in the West Building, a different group of superheroes were meeting...

Da Beers! (and Robin III)
No clue, but that looks like the New 52 Bud-Man, and his European compatriot, Heine Ken.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting! (Hoo! Hah!)
Emma Frost and Sally Jupiter... who has the better boyfriend?

It's not easy being green...
One of many Katnisses. I wore a mockingjay lapel pin during the show, and a few suggested I would make a good Seneca. Or at least a citizen of the Capitol.

This could be the New 52 Green Lantern, or the green variant of the movie version of Hawkeye.
A rare cartoon Catwoman, from the first season of Batman: The Animated Series

The ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing, with Spider-Woman and Kick-Ass in the background.
Great smile on Robin, and I wonder what's up with that woman in the background?

No, not a Marilyn (or Allison Hayes) cosplayer, but an actual statue near the Trib building. I am told it makes a nice rain shelter.
Another Joker, with an original "moll" Harley Quinn. Zatanna in the background, with ??? (tie skirt)

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, pre-52. What a cute couple.

His mighty shield.
One of the best costumes I saw this weekend.

Yes, that's a functional bow and arrow. This gentleman lost twenty pounds to fit into this outfit.
Unknown but eerily familar guy in a gas mask, Starfire, Sue Storm, Xena

What makes Puddin' quiver.
Who's your daddy?

___________________________________________________________________________

Nurse Retched. "Bend over, this won't hurt a bit."
And yet another Joker, also from the movie.

A stormtrooper on R&R. He made the wrong turn at Aldeberan.
Aayla Secura, a Jedi knight who fought at the First Battle of Geonosis.

Dark Phoenix. Notice how everyone gives her room?

Cosplay at the Marvel booth. How many can you identify?

  1. A few of my favorites were the guy dressed as Sam Flynn, complete with glowing piping on his outfit, walking around with a young lady doing her best Sucker Punch schoolgirl.

Also there was at least one young man who had the 10th Doctor down cold and there were a couple people who skipped the Doctor entirely and just dressed up as the TARDIS.

At last year’s C2E2, I saw most of X-force walking around together. This year most of the line-up of X-factor showed up.
We also had a Doctor Nemesis (sadly lacking in telepathic starfish) and Doctor McNinja. I tried really, really hard to get a shot of those two together but it didn’t work out.

I also dug on the Rainbow Dash who was walking around Friday. There was another set of Ponies on Saturday but they weren’t nearly as elaborate.

I always love it when someone breaks obscure enough that you’re not really sure that they’re cosplaying or just being weird. There was a young woman who dressed as “Undercover-at-Stark Black Widow from Iron Man 2” that took me a couple minutes to figure out.

Anyway, C2E2 rocks and I can’t wait for next year.

  2. I was struggling on whether or not to go, and I ended up deciding not to. So, thanks for this.

My colleague was one of the people taking the ICTS exam! I like your captions, but I wish there were an easier way to view the full-size image — the images lead to comicsbeat’s site for the image, and then you have to click on THAT one.
